The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) razed 22 illegal commercial buildings along Sardar Patel Ring Road in the Vatva area on Monday. Among the demolished structures was the restaurant Doston No Dayro, situated near Nirmal Sarovar, which alone accounted for 6,195 square feet of illegal construction.
This demolition drive is part of AMC’s ongoing efforts to enforce urban planning regulations and ensure public safety. In addition to the demolitions in Vatva, the AMC estate department targeted hazardous sections of 15 dangerous buildings located along the Rath Yatra route in the Khadia and Dariapur areas of the Central Zone. These measures are particularly significant in preparation for the upcoming Rath Yatra, where ensuring the safety of the procession route is a priority.
Furthermore, the AMC took action against traffic violations by locking 10 illegally parked vehicles across various roads in the city. This initiative aims to alleviate traffic congestion and enhance urban mobility.The crackdown on illegal constructions and the removal of hazardous buildings highlight the AMC’s commitment to maintaining urban order and public safety. The recent actions are part of a broader strategy to address the challenges of rapid urbanisation, which often leads to unauthorised developments that can pose risks to both infrastructure and residents.
