Authorities have cleared a key infrastructure project designed to reduce highway congestion around Nagpur by allowing through traffic from Jabalpur and nearby regions to bypass the city. The planned Nagpur ring road project is expected to improve travel efficiency while easing pressure on urban roads that currently handle large volumes of intercity vehicles. Transport planners say the ring road will create an alternative route for long-distance traffic that presently passes through Nagpur’s internal road network.
