The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has undertaken a commendable initiative by revitalizing a neglected wasteland in Guwahati’s Maligaon area, transforming it into a vibrant park named Sirisha Rail Udyaan.
Formerly plagued by issues such as waterlogging, garbage dumping, and unhygienic conditions, the wasteland had long been a source of inconvenience for local residents. However, NFR’s intervention has reclaimed the land and revitalized it into a picturesque park spanning over 5,500 square meters.
Sirisha Rail Udyaan boasts modern amenities catering to visitors of all ages. From walking and running tracks to seating areas and an open gym, the park offers ample recreational opportunities. Additionally, separate washroom facilities ensure convenience for visitors. Educational murals adorning the park’s walls showcase Assam’s natural beauty and cultural heritage, adding an enriching dimension to the visitor experience. A dedicated children’s play area and solar LED lamps further enhance the park’s appeal.
The centrepiece of the park is a serene pond adorned with water fountains, providing a tranquil oasis amidst urban surroundings. Residents have warmly embraced this transformative initiative, expressing relief at the eradication of prior issues and gratitude for the creation of a safe and enjoyable space for recreation and relaxation.
