Dynamic Forge Completes Bends For Assam Gas Pipeline

India’s pipeline infrastructure expansion in the northeast has received a manufacturing boost after engineering firm Dynamic Forge & Fittings (I) Pvt. Ltd. completed the production of specialised pipeline components for a major natural gas transmission project.

The company has delivered hot induction bends for the Duliajan–Numaligarh Gas Pipeline (DNPL), a project being developed by Oil India Limited to strengthen gas connectivity across Assam’s industrial and energy network. These engineered pipeline components are designed to meet stringent technical standards required for high-pressure gas transmission infrastructure.Hot induction bends are critical components in long-distance pipelines, enabling pipelines to change direction while maintaining structural strength and pressure resistance. The bends supplied for the DNPL project were produced using thermo-mechanically controlled processed (TMCP) line pipes to improve toughness and durability in demanding operating environments.

According to project information, the components include one-metre tangent lengths that allow engineers to maintain precise pipeline alignment and structural stability along complex routes. The manufacturing process also incorporated post-bend heat treatment to optimise mechanical properties and ensure that the pipeline infrastructure can operate safely under varying pressure conditions.Quality assurance formed a key part of the manufacturing programme. Each component underwent full hydrostatic testing under supervised inspection to confirm its integrity before deployment in the gas pipeline network. Such testing procedures are essential for ensuring operational reliability in energy infrastructure projects where pipeline failure could lead to significant environmental and safety risks.

The DNPL project is expected to play an important role in strengthening gas transportation capacity between Duliajan and Numaligarh, supporting industrial development and cleaner energy distribution in the region. Expanding gas pipeline infrastructure is considered central to India’s strategy of increasing the share of natural gas in its energy mix.Energy planners have been promoting gas pipelines as a transitional infrastructure that can support lower-carbon energy systems compared with traditional fossil fuels. Improved gas connectivity can also help industries shift away from more polluting fuels, particularly in manufacturing clusters and urban industrial zones.

Manufacturers such as Dynamic Forge & Fittings specialise in producing high-precision piping components used across sectors including oil and gas, petrochemicals, power generation and heavy engineering. The company manufactures fittings, bends and flanges in materials ranging from carbon steel and stainless steel to specialised alloy metals for demanding industrial environments. For India’s infrastructure ecosystem, domestic production of critical pipeline components is increasingly important as energy projects expand across multiple regions. Local manufacturing can shorten supply chains, reduce project costs and strengthen the country’s industrial base.

As natural gas infrastructure grows across eastern and northeastern India, suppliers of specialised pipeline equipment are expected to play a key role in supporting the development of more resilient and efficient energy networks.
