Allcargo Logistics Expands Operations to Boost Chakan MIDC Industrial Hub
Logistics major Allcargo Logistics is expanding its operational footprint in the Chakan MIDC industrial cluster near Pune, strengthening supply chain connectivity and supporting the region’s growing manufacturing ecosystem.
Developed by the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), Chakan has emerged as one of India’s largest industrial hubs, hosting major companies across automotive, engineering, pharmaceuticals, and ancillary manufacturing sectors. Over the past three decades, Allcargo Logistics has built a strong logistics network in the region, working closely with manufacturers to streamline freight movement and distribution across the country. The company provides integrated logistics services connecting businesses in Chakan to more than 128,000 locations across India through a combination of road and air transportation networks. These services allow manufacturers to transport goods efficiently to major industrial and consumer markets.
From its Pune logistics operations, Allcargo runs daily road freight services linking Chakan with major commercial centres including Ahmedabad, Delhi, Jaipur, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai, Indore, and Nagpur. These routes enable manufacturers to distribute automotive components, machinery, and other industrial goods across India’s key economic corridors. According to logistics data shared by the company, around 40% of shipments from Chakan move toward northern India, while 20% are transported to western markets, 25% to southern regions, and 15% to eastern India. This distribution pattern highlights Chakan’s strategic role in India’s national logistics network.
For time-sensitive deliveries, the company also utilizes direct air cargo connectivity from Pune, enabling urgent shipments—such as automotive components and electronic parts—to reach destinations within 24 hours in several metropolitan cities. Air cargo networks connecting Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai further help extend deliveries to smaller industrial clusters and Tier-II cities. A key operational model used by the company is the “milk-run” logistics system, which consolidates goods from multiple suppliers into a single transport cycle. This approach helps manufacturers reduce freight costs, improve vehicle utilization, and maintain efficient just-in-time supply chains.
Allcargo has also started integrating electric vehicles and sustainability initiatives into its logistics operations, aiming to reduce the environmental impact of freight movement in major industrial zones. Industry analysts say logistics providers are playing an increasingly critical role in supporting large manufacturing clusters like Chakan. Efficient supply chains and multimodal transport systems are essential for industries such as automobile manufacturing, where timely delivery of components directly affects production schedules.
Over the years, the Chakan industrial region has evolved from a base of small and medium enterprises into a major manufacturing hub attracting large domestic and global companies. With industrial activity continuing to expand, logistics networks like those developed by Allcargo Logistics are expected to remain vital in strengthening Maharashtra’s manufacturing competitiveness and supporting future industrial growth.
