50 Percent Off on Delhi Metro Tickets Use Uber or WhatsApp

Delhi Metro commuters can now avail a 50% discount on tickets purchased through the Uber app. This initiative, launched in collaboration with the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), aims to streamline the ticketing process and encourage the use of public transport.

The integration of metro ticketing within the Uber app offers a seamless experience for users, allowing them to plan their journeys and make payments without switching between multiple platforms. This development is part of Uber’s broader strategy to incorporate various modes of transportation into its app, providing a comprehensive mobility solution for urban dwellers. To purchase discounted Delhi Metro tickets via the Uber app, users need to open the app, select the ‘Metro’ option, choose their departure and destination stations, and complete the payment process. The app then generates a QR code, which can be scanned at metro entry gates for access. This digital approach not only simplifies the ticketing process but also reduces the need for physical tokens or cards, aligning with eco-friendly practices.

In addition to the Uber app, commuters have alternative digital platforms for booking metro tickets. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) offers ticketing services through its Momentum 2.0 app, Paytm, and the ‘One Delhi’ app. Furthermore, tickets can be booked via WhatsApp by sending a message to +91 9650855800, providing users with multiple convenient options to access metro services. This initiative is expected to significantly impact daily commuters, especially those who rely on the metro for their primary mode of transportation. By offering a substantial discount, the program aims to incentivize the use of public transport, thereby reducing traffic congestion and lowering carbon emissions in the city.

The collaboration between Uber, ONDC, and DMRC represents a forward-thinking approach to urban transportation challenges. By leveraging technology and partnerships, the initiative seeks to create a more integrated and sustainable transit ecosystem in Delhi. As urban centers continue to grapple with the complexities of transportation and environmental concerns, such innovative solutions serve as a blueprint for other cities aiming to enhance their public transport systems while promoting sustainability and convenience for commuters.
