3 Level Flyover to Ease Kondapur Traffic Woes

Hyderabad’s traffic scenario is set for major relief with the inauguration of a three-level flyover near Kondapur, expected in the first week of June.

The new structure will be inaugurated by Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and is located near Shilpa Layout Phase II. Built at a cost of ₹178 crore under the Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP), the 1.2-kilometre-long flyover is designed to significantly reduce travel time and ease peak-hour traffic in some of the city’s most congested corridors. The flyover will help decongest traffic from Gachibowli to the Outer Ring Road (ORR), and improve access to Hi-Tech City and the Financial District. The project comprises three levels: Level 1 is the existing flyover at Gachibowli junction, Level 2 is near Shilpa Layout Phase I, and Level 3, the newest, runs above the first two. With this, 37 out of the 42 SRDP infrastructure projects have been completed.

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner RV Karnan confirmed that focus will now shift to the remaining projects under SRDP. These include two major railway overbridges—Falaknuma ROB, expected by July-end, and Shastripuram ROB, slated for completion by August. The new flyover is expected to provide immediate relief to commuters travelling between Kondapur, Hafeezpet, and Shamshabad, significantly easing the bottlenecks at Gachibowli. Residents and professionals commuting to Hi-Tech City from various parts of the city will benefit from smoother traffic flow and reduced wait times, especially during rush hours.

As Hyderabad continues to expand its tech and commercial footprint, infrastructure enhancements like this flyover remain key to the city’s urban mobility strategy.
