Kota Civic Body Approves ₹1,062 Crore Loan for City Infrastructure Upgrades
The Kota Development Authority (KDA) has taken a major step towards enhancing the city’s infrastructure by deciding to secure a ₹1,062 crore loan from the National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB). This decision was made at the KDA’s third board meeting, chaired by KDA Chairman Ravindra Goswami, which focused on several key urban development initiatives.
The loan will be used for a wide range of infrastructure projects aimed at improving the city’s road network and other urban amenities. Among the significant developments planned are the renovation of the MBS Hospital campus, the construction of a new auditorium, and the development of a mini-secretariat, sports complex, and new meeting hall for the district council. Additionally, KDA has outlined plans to build affordable housing for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), Lower Income Groups (LIG), and Middle Income Groups (MIG), alongside constructing a flyover near the new greenfield airport. A key part of the plan also includes the beautification of the city, with projects to improve the main roads, parks, and lakes such as Kotri Lake, Raipura Lake, and Kishore Sagar Lake. The KDA has also planned the development of a Constitution Park to enhance the city’s cultural landscape.
In addition to these development plans, KDA has sanctioned consultancy work from the Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO), which will assist in creating a master plan for the renovation and construction projects. Furthermore, the Central Road Research Institute (CSIR), New Delhi, has been tasked with identifying accident-prone sites within the city, with the aim of improving road safety. Once the Detailed Project Report (DPR) is finalized, the authority will apply to HUDCO for the necessary loan amount. The decision reflects the KDA’s commitment to transforming Kota into a more modern, safe, and attractive city for its residents and visitors alike.
