The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has taken a step forward in addressing the housing needs of the capital’s residents by adding 107 new flats under its popular affordable housing scheme.
The move comes in response to the overwhelming demand for housing options in Delhi, especially for middle and lower-income groups. The new flats will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, a measure aimed at streamlining the process and ensuring transparency in the allocation. In an effort to maintain the momentum and meet the surging demand, the DDA has also introduced a 20 per cent discount on these properties, a key incentive for prospective buyers. Initially, the authority launched 63 High-Income Group (HIG) flats in Loknayak Puram, which were quickly sold out. The newly added 107 flats, which include 17 units in Tower A and 90 units in Tower B, are priced between ₹1.18 crore and ₹1.23 crore. However, after the discount, the prices drop to a more affordable range of ₹94.4 lakh to ₹99 lakh. These flats are located in a highly strategic area along the Urban Extension Road (UER-2), offering residents easy access to major hubs, including Indira Gandhi International Airport, just 20 minutes away.
The DDA has also focused on making these flats accessible to backward classes by offering them an additional 20 per cent discount, ensuring that the housing scheme remains inclusive and equitable. This initiative is a part of the broader effort to provide affordable, eco-friendly, and sustainable housing solutions for Delhi’s diverse population. Furthermore, the DDA is building 700 flats in the Narela region, specifically designed for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) with a starting price of ₹8.65 lakh. These flats are also being sold on a first-come, first-served basis, with a nominal booking fee of ₹50,000.
This expansion of the housing scheme highlights the DDA’s commitment to providing affordable homes to a wide range of residents, ensuring that even the economically disadvantaged have access to quality housing. The pricing model, coupled with discounts and the strategic locations of these properties, makes them an attractive option for many looking to invest in Delhi’s real estate market. The inclusion of special discounts for backward classes also aligns with the city’s broader goal of promoting social equity. As Delhi continues to experience rapid urbanisation, the DDA’s housing schemes remain a crucial part of the city’s efforts to build a more sustainable, inclusive, and environmentally conscious urban landscape. The initiative’s focus on affordability and access is vital in creating a city where all citizens, irrespective of their economic background, can live in dignity and comfort
